Rick Barnes, Vice President
Rick Barnes is a certified arborist with a Bachelor of Science in horticulture from University of Georgia. He has been in the landscaping industry for 30 years and has been with NatureScapes since 1996. He is certified by the Georgia Department of Agriculture, has served as chairman of the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, and is a recipient of the Jake Tinga Distinguished Professional of the Year Award (2000). Rick is also NatureScapes' school coordinator.
For 12 years, Rick directed all aspects of his own Atlanta-area landscape design, installation, and maintenance business, Greensphere Landscaping. Projects completed by the company were featured in Southern Living and American Nurseryman. Greensphere joined with NatureScapes in 1996.
In addition to his passion for nature, Rick has a passion for photography that produces stunning photos for the NatureScapes Web site and newsletters. With an eye for composition, his talent behind the camera skillfully records spectacular nature shots and showcase properties maintained by NatureScapes. His images have also been featured on multiple covers of the Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) Journal.
Outside of NatureScapes, Rick has been active and held leadership roles in the GGIA and the Boy Scouts of America.
